First Strings
First Strings is a once-a-week ten-session program of violin instruction in which all the children in a third or fourth-grade class learn together how to hold a violin and bow, and how to play a basic rhythm, use the fingers of the left hand and put it all together in "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" using the Suzuki method.
Cost: $500 per classroom. Schoolerships are available to assist school systems.
Presto!
Presto! Is a once-a-week after school program of small classes of 5-8 students who have graduated from the "First Strings" program. The students work to refine their skills by learning additional violin pieces inside and outside the Suzuki literature, and by being introduced to reading music. The program is presented in seven-week segments with the opportunity to progress to additional segments.
Cost is $125 plus $20 violin rental. Scholarships are available to parents.
