Opus 25: A Silver Celebration

Opus 25: A Silver Celebration was the theme for an evening in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Chesapeake Chamber Music and the 200th anniversary of Frédéric Chopin's birth. The black-tie gala was held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Easton's Waterfowl Building, transformed for the occasion into a glittering venue of silver, white and black.  The evening was conducted in three movements:

6:00 pm - Avalon Theatre - Diane Walsh in concert Diane Walsh
The evening began with the extraordinary talent of 25-year CCM Festival participant, pianist Diane Walsh, as she brought the music of Chopin to life.  Diane came to Easton from her recent performance in the Tony Award winning Broadway play "33 Variations" starring Jane Fonda.

7:00 pm - Waterfowl Building - Cocktails and Silent Auction
Following the concert, Gala guests continued the anniversary celebration at the Waterfowl Building where they were able to sip a glass of wine or enjoy an "Eighth-Note" cocktail especially created for the evening. There were a multitude of new and unusual items in the silent and live auctions that guests were invited to bid for to help advance the outreach programs of Chesapeake Chamber Music. A preliminary tabulation shows that the Gala raised a record-breaking $50,000 for this purpose!

Following cocktails - Waterfowl Building - Gala Dinner
Gala-goers enjoy a superb gastronomic treat in the form of a dinner designed by the creative team of Sidney and Jim Trond of Gourmet By The Bay catering. The Tronds are widely known and respected throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and pride themselves on creating inspired, elegant presentations. Their performance at the Gala dinner did not disappoint!

The evening's program was underwritten by Wye Financial & Trust in partnership with Gilman Hill Asset Management, Jenny Van Leewen Harrington, Managing Director.
